Admitted Students

Key Takeaways for Candidates

  • Admissions decisions are rolling and deliberate
  • No deposit is required at any stage
  • A Declaration of Intent holds your seat without forcing an immediate final decision
  • The waitlist is real, active, and meaningful
  • Offers may be extended very late into the cycle

Offer and Commitment Process

Step 1: Post-Interview Committee Review

After interview day, your application enters the post-interview committee review phase.

  • Your full application (including interview feedback) is reviewed by the admissions committees.
  • This stage focuses on final deliberation, not on reinterviewing or additional testing.
  • Candidates should expect this review to take several weeks, depending on the point in the cycle.

Key expectation: Silence during this period is normal and does not reflect negatively on your application.

Step 2: Earliest Acceptance Decisions Begin

The earliest date acceptance notices are sent is October 15, 2026. Beginning on this date, the admissions committee may begin extending offers of acceptance on a鈥痳olling basis.

Acceptances continue to be issued throughout the cycle as the class is built. Not all interviewed candidates will hear back immediately after October 15.

Step 3: Receiving an Offer of Acceptance

If you are offered admission, you will receive a formal acceptance notice by email and phone call from Admissions.

Upon acceptance, you are given two weeks鈥痶o complete a Declaration of Intent to:

  • Confirm your intention to hold the seat
  • Reserve your place without requiring a financial deposit
  • Allow you to continue considering other offers until you reach a final decision

No seat deposit is required鈥痶o accept an offer.

Step 4: Holding an Acceptance While Deciding

After submitting your Declaration of Intent:

  • Your seat is held while you continue to evaluate your options.
  • You may remain in communication with other schools.
  • This period lasts until you make a final decision through the AMCAS鈥疌ommit to Enroll (CTE)鈥痯rocess.

Important distinction:

  • Declaration of Intent = holding the seat
  • Commit to Enroll (CTE) = final decision

Step 5: Continued Consideration and the Waitlist

Applicants who are not immediately accepted after an interview typically remain in continued consideration.

Mid-May transition:

  • The鈥痺aitlist is formally constituted in mid-May
  • Candidates who are still under consideration at that time are given the option to opt out鈥痮f being placed on the waitlist if they choose

Typical waitlist characteristics:

  • Approximately 120 candidates鈥痑re placed on the waitlist each cycle after May 15
  • The waitlist is active and used, not symbolic

Step 6: Waitlist Movement

Each cycle, approximately 30 offers of acceptance are extended to candidates from the waitlist.

Movement typically occurs after the Commit to Enroll deadlines and withdrawals by accepted candidates who choose other schools.

Key expectation for waitlisted candidates:

  • Maintaining ongoing interest involves providing updates and external recommendations through the candidate portal
  • Candidates should remain reachable and responsive throughout late spring and early summer

Step 7: Final Acceptance Timeline

The latest date acceptance notices may be sent is July 12, 2026.

Offers can be made very late in the cycle, including summer. Waitlisted and continued-consideration candidates may receive offers close to matriculation.

Step 8: Commit to Enroll (Final Candidate Decision)

When you are ready to make your final choice, you complete the鈥疌ommit to Enroll (CTE) action through AMCAS no later than May 15, 2026. This confirms your final intent to attend Stritch and requires withdrawal from all other medical schools and waitlists.

After CTE is completed, your seat is finalized.

Step 9: Deferred Entrance Requests

Requests to鈥痙efer matriculation鈥痑re considered鈥痮n a case-by-case basis for accepted students prior to March 2026. Approval is not automatic鈥痑nd requires review by the admissions committee.

Candidates should contact Admissions directly if considering a deferral.
